In honor of the inauguration of our 45th President, and the freedom we live in, I chose to pull out the red, white, and blue's!
I looked up the definition for freedom...one of the definitions was, "the state of not bring imprisoned or enslaved". We can be imprisoned or enslaved by many things, but the one thing that really stood out to me was worry! God has given us freedom through our relationship with Him!
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
John 8:36 KJV
Worry is when we are afraid or concerned because we don't know what is going to happen. So what does it mean to trust God? Trusting God means that we remember He is in control and knows everything.
So, can we worry and fully trust God at the same time? The answer is no! We can try, but it is exhausting! We are human and it is hard to let go of our circumstances. We want to "fix it", figure it out, change it, and solve it! The Word of God gives us all the answers we need and when we apply it to our lives it brings peace.
“Trust in the LORD with all your heart And do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He will make your paths straight.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 NASB
God wants us to trust in Him whenever we are tempted to worry because He cares for us! HE cares for us! He knows we are human and He knew we would need His word to navigate our lives!
He is in control and knows about everything that has happened in the past, is happening now in the present, and all that will happen in the future.
“"Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For the LORD GOD is my strength and song, And He has become my salvation.""
Isaiah 12:2 NASB
There are many scriptures speak to us about worry and anxiety, below are some of my favorites...
““So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
MATTHEW 6:34 AMP
“casting all your cares [all your anxieties, all your worries, and all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares about you [with deepest affection, and watches over you very carefully].”
1 PETER 5:7 AMP
This means He will do the caring for you! He wants to do the caring for you! He delights in you casting your cares upon Him! He can handle it!
“Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] I'm requests known to God.”
PHILIPPIANS 4:6 AMP
I have shed some tears writing this post, the battle I face is big to me. There are lots of unknowns and odds that come along with the territory. Sometimes I feel overwhelmed, afraid, and weak, but God gives me His mercy and grace to uphold me!
I am preaching to myself, and I pray that this encourages everyone who reads it. No matter how big or small your battle is, He cares and He has a plan. We must keep walking in faith and trust Him! The battle is not ours, but God's...
“and he said, "Listen, all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: thus says the LORD to you, 'Do not fear or be dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours but God's.”
2 Chronicles 20:15 NASB
I love you all and thank you for every prayer of faith!
